Wife tries to hire undercover deputy to kill husband |
Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger reports that on June 26, 2008, Deputies arrested Stephanie Stolz of Mt. Orab for Conspiracy, Complicity, and Attempt to Commit Aggravated Murder. Lt. Josh Black of the Mt. Orab Police Department received information the Stolz was looking to hire someone to kill her estranged husband. The Sheriff’s Office began to investigate, and culminated with Stolz meeting an undercover Deputy at Krogers in Mt. Orab, and paying the undercover Deputy to kill the intended victim. Stolz was arrested and taken to the Brown County detention Center, where she awaits arraignment on the charges.

Wittenberg University Announces Athletics Hall Of Honor Class of 2008 - Wendel Donathan is the most decorated wrestler in Wittenberg history. A four-year letterwinner, Donathan posted a career record of 106-28-4, making him the only Wittenberg wrestler to ever win 100 career matches. He was Wittenberg’s team MVP in each of his four years in the Red & White, and he placed first, second and third at the OAC tournament in his senior, junior and sophomore years, respectively. He capped his career with OAC Most Outstanding Wrestler honors as a senior, before becoming the first and only Tiger wrestler to earn All-America honors with a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships
Wendel a 1985 graduate of Western Brown High School, coaches wrestling at Franklin High School and is very active in the wrestling community.

Founder's Day Festival Kicks Off This Weekend |

The festival season kicks off in full this weekend with the Sardinia Founder's Day Festival. This year's theme is "Sardinia Salutes" A Tribute to Veterans Past and Present.
The festival gets underway on Friday, June 27, at 5:00 p.m. with opening ceremonies on the main stage. Other things planned for Friday include Jr. Prince and Princess Votes Due to the Committee Both at 5:30 p.m., Jeremy Neal on the main stage at 6:00 p.m., Kids Parade lineup at 6:00 p.m., Kids Parade Judging at 6:30 p.m., Kids parade at 7:00 p.m., and the Kids Parade Awards on the main stage at 7:30 p.m.

Sheriff arrests 3 suspects in drug bust |
Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger reports that Deputies have arrested three persons with multiple counts of Felony Drug Trafficking, as a result of an investigation into drug activity. The drugs involved were Marijuana, Cocaine, and Prescription Pills. Charged were:
Thomas Harper, 50 years old of Hamersville
Wesley Tolliver, 46 years old of Georgetown
Steven Freidhoff, 31 years old of Aberdeen

2 suspects arrested in burglary, 2 still at large |

Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger reports that on June 20, 2008, Deputies responded to a reported Burglary and Theft from a residence on New Hope-McKinley Road, Georgetown. The victim reported forced entry into his residence, with numerous items taken including guns, knives, coins, medications, tools and a checkbook. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were also responsible for cutting down electric lines on Delhi-Arnheim Road and stealing the copper wire which caused a large power outage.
